Signals explained
Signals are one of the core parts of the Lokly experience.
They are designed to help nearby people quickly understand what is happening around them in real time without needing to search through long posts or external platforms.
Unlike normal posts, Signals are intended for faster local awareness. They can help communities stay informed about activity, incidents, disruptions, public situations, and other nearby updates as they happen.
On Lokly, Signals may appear more prominently in the feed depending on:
- nearby activity
- area relevance
- recency
- multiple reports from nearby users
- urgency or engagement
Some Signals may also appear as Live Alerts when similar activity is reported repeatedly within a short period of time.
How Signals work
When creating a post, users may optionally attach a Signal to provide additional local context.
Signals are connected to nearby activity and may include information related to:
- traffic conditions
- electricity or internet outages
- public incidents
- weather situations
- local crowd activity
- emergencies
- area disruptions
- nearby updates
Some Signal types may evolve over time as Lokly expands to additional areas and communities.
Area relevance
Signals are designed around location relevance rather than global reach.
A Signal created in one area may primarily appear to people nearby or connected to that local region. This helps keep the experience more useful and relevant for communities.
As Lokly expands, Signal visibility and coverage may continue evolving depending on rollout stages and regional availability.
Visibility and ranking
Not every Signal is shown equally.
Lokly may prioritize Signals based on:
- how recent they are
- nearby relevance
- repeated reports
- user trust systems
- community activity
- safety and moderation systems
This helps reduce spam and surface more useful local updates.
Safety and moderation
Signals are monitored through automated safety systems and community moderation tools.
Misleading, abusive, spam, or harmful Signals may:
- be limited
- removed
- restricted from recommendations
- affect account visibility or trust systems
Repeated misuse may lead to temporary or permanent account restrictions.
Please review the Community Guidelines before using Signals on Lokly.
Live Alerts
In some situations, Lokly may group repeated nearby Signals into broader Live Alerts.
These alerts are intended to help nearby users become aware of important local activity more quickly.
Some Live Alerts may trigger notifications depending on:
- your location
- notification settings
- Signal urgency
- nearby activity levels
Availability of Live Alerts may vary depending on area coverage and platform rollout stages.
Report a problem
If you believe a Signal is inaccurate, misleading, abusive, or not functioning correctly, you can report it directly from the Lokly app or through the support form below.
Lokly is continuously evolving, and Signal systems may change over time as the platform expands.
